Laundry Tips to Protect Sensitive Skin and Fabrics

When managing eczema, paying attention to how you wash your clothes can make a significant difference. We suggest using our wash bag and following our care instructions.

• Always wash new clothes before wearing them.
• Turn garments and silk mittens inside out to ensure a more thorough clean, especially if you’re using creams on the skin.
• Use gentle, non-perfumed detergent. Perfumed detergents that are left on the fabric after washing and drying may irritate sensitive skin. Avoid using fabric softener.
• Machine wash in warm water with similar colours, at or below 40C. Do not use bleach.
• Your healthcare professional may advise tumble drying to minimise exposure to airborne pollutants. If using a tumble dryer, select a low heat setting if possible.

To make sure your little one is comfortable, we recommend trying on your Honey & Stitch piece before washing. If the size doesn’t feel quite right, please reach out to us before washing or wearing so we can help organise an exchange. Once items have been washed, we’re unable to resell or exchange them.
